The flat belt villa elevator replaces steel wire rope with a flat belt whose load-bearing core is encapsulated in polyurethane. Metal-to-metal contact between rope and traction sheave disappears, and with it most of the high-frequency vibration owners notice inside the car. Because the belt needs no lubrication, the shaft head stays clean for the life of the installation.
Steel rope running over a steel sheave is a compromise inherited from industrial elevators: line contact, metal-on-metal friction, and vibration transmitted straight into the car frame. A flat belt changes all three — the polyurethane jacket damps the contact, the belt wraps a wider arc, and the drive becomes measurably quieter.
Owners describe the difference as the lift arriving rather than starting. In a house where the shaft shares a wall with a bedroom, that is the difference between a lift used every day and one avoided at night.
The polyurethane jacket protects the load-bearing core from abrasion and corrosion, so belt life is typically two to three times that of an equivalent steel rope. No lubricant means no oil residue on the sheave, no lubrication schedule and no drip tray to clean.
The belt is also more flexible, tolerating smaller sheave diameters. That permits a more compact machine, which makes machine-room-less layouts easier to fit into an existing shaft head, while the larger contact arc improves efficiency compared with a rope system of the same capacity.

Values shown are typical for the standard configuration. Final data are confirmed on the approved layout drawing for each project.
A residential lift is maintained by a family, not a facilities team, so the simpler the routine the better it is kept. The flat belt system asks for inspection at the annual service, cleaning and occasional tension adjustment — nothing else. There is no oil to buy, store or dispose of.
The controller monitors belt slip and overload and reports both, so wear is flagged before it becomes a service call. For houses far from an engineer, that early warning is worth more than a marginally lower purchase price.

No — the opposite. The polyurethane jacket protects the core from abrasion, and field experience shows two to three times the service life of an equivalent steel rope. Inspect annually and replace on measured wear.
Yes. The jacket resists moisture and common atmospheric contaminants. For coastal sites we specify a corrosion-protected sheave and stainless fasteners as an option.
The belt range covers the residential band up to 400 kg. For passenger and freight duties we specify rope or high-strength belt systems according to the load case.
