Dumbwaiters move trays, linen, documents and small stock between floors in restaurants, hotels, libraries and shops. Capacities from 50 kg to 300 kg, with stainless steel cars, interlocked doors and a footprint that fits a service riser.
In a busy restaurant the dumbwaiter is the difference between a kitchen that serves two floors and one that carries plates up the stairs. Because it is used constantly and repaired rarely, the design priorities are simple: quiet operation, a washable interior and doors that cannot be opened while the car is moving.
Cars are stainless steel with coved corners and a removable tray shelf, so a spill is cleaned in a minute. Door interlocks are mechanical and electrical, and the call station is a two-button panel that staff can use with wet hands.
A 100 kg dumbwaiter needs a shaft from roughly 900 × 900 mm, and a 300 kg unit around 1,200 × 1,200 mm, with a headroom of 2,400 mm and a shallow pit. That is small enough to place in a service riser beside the kitchen, in a former chimney breast, or in a cabinet run in a shop.
Structure-mounted machines avoid the need for a separate plant room, and where no pit is possible we supply a low-threshold landing arrangement.

Values shown are typical for the standard configuration. Final data are confirmed on the approved layout drawing for each project.
Typical applications include restaurant pass-through to an upper dining floor, hotel housekeeping and room-service, library book transport between stack floors, pharmacy and laboratory sample movement, and stock transfer in multi-level retail.
Where hygiene matters we supply a fully stainless interior with drainage, sealed light fittings and a wash-down floor; for libraries and archives, a flat shelf car without drainage and with a quieter door operator.

Requirements vary by jurisdiction and by capacity — many regions regulate units above 100 kg or above a certain travel. We will confirm what applies in your market and supply the documentation needed.
Yes. A dumbwaiter is the least intrusive lift to retrofit: a small shaft in a service riser, a shallow pit and a compact machine that can be mounted on the structure.
A two-button call station at each landing and a send/arrive signal; the car is loaded and the door closed, and the unit travels automatically to the selected floor.
